The nearest MRT to Martin Modern will be the future Great World MRT (TE15) along Thomson-East Coast Line. It will only be a short walk from the Martin Place site. The in operation MRT now nearest to the GuocoLand site will be Somerset MRT.
The currently under construction Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) will consist a total of 31 stations. It stretches all the way from Woodlands North to Sungei Bedok. It will be passing through Upper Thomson, the current Orchard MRT, Gardens by The Bay and Marine Parade just to highlight a few key locations. This MRT line cuts across the middle of Singapore from the North to South and travels along the East Coast stretch. The TEL will be 43 kilometers long, with 7 interchange stations, which will link to the East-West Line, North-South Line, North-East Line, Circle Line and the Downtown Line.
TEL will be fully underground with the most number of entrances and some of these entrances are connected to longer pedestrian subways to shelter you from the weather, and shorten your walking time to and from stations.
Commuters along the East Coast stretch can cycle and park your bicycles in any of the four underground bicycle parks found in Marine Parade, Marine Terrace. Bayshore and Sungei Bedok stations.
Great World station will be completed under the Stage 3 of the Thomson-East Coast Line. The earliest expected date for Stage 3 to complete will be in 2021. The whole of Thomson-East Coast Line is expected to complete in year 2024. Works have already begun a few years earlier. The first part of the line is due to complete in 2019! Commuters can start enjoying the TEL in stages from 2019. Commuters that are keen to know where the exits and entrances of the TEL stations can visit LTA website for more information. They have also uploaded perspectives for those whom are curious to know how they will look like in the future. There are much for us to look forward to!
